How pro bono work is assigned
Morgan Lewis runs an annual Pro Bono Challenge of at least 20 hours per lawyer; the firm reports that 100 percent of its lawyers met it for the eighth consecutive year in fiscal 2025, averaging more than 50 hours. Summer associates join hands-on legal clinics and ongoing pro bono representations. The firm also sponsors Equal Justice Works fellows and seven-month associate secondments to nonprofits.

The First-Generation Fellowship is applied for through the summer application in Boston, Chicago, New York, San Francisco and Washington, DC; the IP Fellowship covers two full summers at one of seven US offices.
