Practice Areas
Proskauer has no formal rotation. Summers "rank their interest in different departments and practice areas and they will receive assignments based on their interests and the availability of work in their specific office." Each office has an assignment coordinator who allocates work submitted through an online portal. At the end of the summer, summers formally rank practice area preferences and are placed in departments shortly after the program ends.
Inclusion
Proskauer's attorney engagement networks are open to all and run programs for networking, engagement and education. The firm also runs the Silver Scholar program, a $50,000 award paid in installments to selected 2L summer associates.

How pro bono work is assigned
Every first-year associate is given a pro bono project on joining, and all lawyers are expected to complete at least 50 pro bono hours a year. Hours are credited to the same extent as billable hours with no limit. A full-time pro bono partner, two pro bono counsel and a pro bono coordinator run the program.

Each summer associate has a partner mentor and one or two associate mentors who check in weekly. Proskauer expects all summer associates to receive a full-time offer. Non-local summers are reimbursed for travel to and from the office. Summers join department meetings, affinity group activities and community service projects.
