AI Interview Consent
Required where the Illinois AI Video Interview Act (820 ILCS 42/) applies · Last updated: April 29, 2026
1. What this is
Some firms reviewing your application through BigLaw Bear use AI tools as part of their interview process. The Illinois AI Video Interview Act requires that we tell you exactly how those tools work, ask for your consent before they run, and let you opt out at any time. This page is the standalone copy of the consent screen, when a firm schedules a callback with you, you’ll see this same language plus a Grant / Deny toggle for each feature.
2. Features that may run
BigLaw Bear surfaces three AI features in the interview flow. Each one runs only when you’ve granted consent to that specific feature for that specific firm.
a. Voice memo summary
After your interview, the interviewer may dictate a 30–90 second voice memo summarizing their impression of the conversation. We transcribe that memo and convert it into structured feedback (rating, strengths, concerns) for the firm’s record. You are not recorded. Only the interviewer’s voice is captured, and only with their action.
b. Post-call transcription
If your interview takes place in a BigLaw Bear video room, the call is recorded, transcribed, and summarized. The firm uses the transcript and a structured AI summary to inform the hiring committee. The recording is stored privately, accessible only to evaluators at the firm, and deleted within 30 days of your written request.
c. Live follow-up suggestions
During the interview, your interviewer may see real-time AI-suggested follow-up questions based on the live transcript. The suggestions are visible only to the interviewer; you don’t see them, and the AI does not score you. No data is retained from this feature outside the interview window.
3. What the AI evaluates
The voice-memo and post-call summary tools generate structured feedback covering: communication clarity, substantive responses to interviewer questions, and overall interview rating. They do not attempt to infer demographic characteristics, personality traits, or anything outside the interview content.
[REPLACE WITH LEGAL-APPROVED COPY: the type of AI technology used, the general types of characteristics the technology uses to evaluate applicants, and any retention or deletion practices specific to the firm, per 820 ILCS 42/5(2).]
4. Your rights
- Consent before use.No AI feature runs on your interview unless you’ve granted consent for that feature.
- Granular opt-in. You can grant some features and deny others. Denying any feature does not affect your candidacy, the interview proceeds normally without the AI assist.
- Revoke at any time. Revoking consent stops all AI features immediately and applies to future interviews at the firm.
- 30-day deletion on request. You can request that any recording, transcript, or AI-generated summary be deleted by emailing legal@biglawbear.com. We will delete within 30 days.
- Sharing limits. Recordings and transcripts are shared only with people the firm designates as evaluators of your candidacy.
